Mrs Westerman has got a fantastic group of keen, enthusiastic gardeners who attend her allotment club and they have been working hard on clearing and digging the weeds out.
The older children have planted onions which hopefully will be ready to harvest next June.Whilst this has been happening, the younger children have been planting strawberry plants in preparation for strawberries and cream next summer!! Yum!! A big thank you to Jamie Lonsdale's granddad for the kind donation of the plants! Keep up the hard work guys.
Keep up to date with everything that is happening with the Green team at Methley Primary School.

Allotment Harvested
Yesterday, Monday 16th July, saw Year 2 go into the allotment and harvest our remaining crops! Below are some pictures of the guys getting their hands dirty and some of the fantastic produce they found. Mrs Westerman, allotment club leader, was amazed at the harvesting skills and is looking forward to Mrs Campy using the items in her lunch menu today!

Allotment update!!
Allotment Harvest Begins!!
| Fresh from the allotment this morning... |
| ...and in our salads for lunch today!! |
Here is a picture of some of the radishes we have harvested from our school allotment. These will be used as part of the school canteens menu today and hopefully this will be the first of many things that we produce for our selves. After the recent sunshine and showers the allotment is looking fantastic and hopefully we will be able to harvest our beans, potatoes, broccoli, cabbage and onions in the coming weeks and months! Well done to the allotment club for looking after the beds and also to the band of volunteers from the Foundation Unit for helping harvest the radishes.

Our Aims
Following our recent survey of the environment in and around school we have come up with 4 target areas for the year.
- The Big Tidy Up - we are going to clean up the local area, we will be asking you your thoughts on this soon
- Reduce paper usage - we have introduced paper police into the classroom and are working hard on recycling
- Reduce food waste - introduce compost collection points around school and use this in the school allotment
- Reduce power usage in school - keep up no power hours each week, lights monitors in each class room, regular surveys by year 6 green team members to check up on all classrooms.
If you have any ideas which would help with any of these areas we would love to hear from you.
